Choosing to work with a brand that put his identity, personality, and preferences front and centre, Maarten played a central role alongside the Calma glove team, spending endless hours designing, adapting, and testing the gloves that the Ajax goalkeeper now proudly wears in the Eredivisie and with the Indonesian National Team.
From meeting suppliers and reviewing different samples, to learning more about the fair labour standards that Calma’s European manufacturing operation ensures, Maarten knew that by being involved at this level, he could help push the standard of glove creation forward globally.
The Calma Paes Tembok is crafted by the most historic European manufacturers with exclusive materials. The limited edition retail version, available now, is identical to the gloves that Maarten has developed and now wears at the top level.
In a striking red and white colourway, connecting Maarten’s Indonesian heritage and his domestic club, the Calma Paes Tembok features the brand’s new, exclusive Supreme latex - a formula created solely for the brand by leading latex producers Latico.
The glove sports a hybrid negative cut for a snug fit and strong feel for the football when handling. The dual wrapped thumb and a wrapped palm around the little finger allow more latex contact on the ball, enhancing control. And, the latex strap with classic bandage entry makes the Paes Tembok simple to pull on, off, and secure.
Upon joining Calma in 2025, Maarten explained that “as a goalkeeper, you grow up choosing gloves by feel or emotion, not by knowing what goes into them. When I joined Calma, I saw an opportunity to change that”.
